Former Gandaki Province minister and political leader Deepak Manange has been released from prison after completing his jail sentence.

Manange had been serving his sentence at the Dillibazar Prison in Kathmandu. He was convicted by the court in an attempted murder case related to an attack on gangster Chakre Milan in 2004.

The court had sentenced him to five years in prison. After serving his remaining jail term and receiving legal deductions allowed by the prison system, he was released from custody.

Manange is a well-known political figure from Manang district. He was elected as a provincial assembly member twice and also served as a minister in the Gandaki Province government.

Following his release, there has been renewed discussion about his political future. According to the law, he may not be eligible to contest elections for several years after completing his prison sentence.
